  18. Information Databases:
  19.  
  20. Information Databases by K6PBT written for PacketCluster/PCDB include the
  21. following listed.
  22.  
  23.   *AREACODE     The AREACODE database.  Directory of area codes,
  24.                 prefixes, and locations for all 50 states and Canada.
  25.  
  26.    CONTEST      The CONTEST database.  DX-related contest calendar
  27.                 and contest information.
  28.  
  29.   *COORD        The COORDindates database.  Geographical coordinates
  30.                 of various locations in the United States and the
  31.                 World, including Grids.
  32.  
  33.    DEALER       The DEALER database.  Directory of Amateur Radio and
  34.                 Electronic dealers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  35.  
  36.   *EXTRA        The EXTRA database.  Q&A for Element 4B for the Extra
  37.                 Class amateur radio license.
  38.  
  39.    INFO         The INFO database.  A library of a variety of data,
  40.                 including Q-Signals, ARRL data, Zones, SWR, Awards,
  41.                 COAX, U.S. Facts, Bands, Postage, IRC's, QSL Bureaus,
  42.                 YASME calls ... over 25 information topics.

  44.    IOTA         The IOTA database.  An Islands on the Air reference
  45.                 to check on where that island is you worked or check
  46.                 on the location of an IOTA number.
  47.  
  48.    OPDX         The OPDX database.  Contains DX news and information
  49.                 from previous releases of the Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin
  50.                 edited by KB8NW.
  51.  
  52.    RULES        The RULES database.  Part 97 of the FCC Rules and
  53.                 Regulations for the Amateur Radio Service.  Includes
  54.                 suppliers and locations where FCC rule publications
  55.                 and reports may be obtained.

  57.    TODAY        The TODAY database.  What happened today or yesterday?
  58.                 For any given date you'll find informative trivia to
  59.                 maybe enlighten your QSO.  Includes a perpetual calendar.

  61. Note: Several databases previously distributed have been merged into INFO.
  62. See below for more information.  Databases noted above with an "*" are not
  63. currently being supported with updates, although are still available for
  64. download from DX-BBS.

  69. The following files, where [dbn] is the database name, are included within
  70. each database compressed file:

  72.    [dbn].FUL      The primary database file.
  73.  
  74.    [dbn].IDX      The database index file.
  75.  
  76.    [dbn].DOC      The database documentation file, with update
  77.                   information.

  79.    PBTDB.TXT      This file you're reading.

  81. Several previously distributed databases (AWARDS, BUREAU, COUNTY, FCC, FLUX,
  82. IRC, and SWL) have been combined into one database called INFO.  The new,
  83. expanded INFO database contain these files:
  84.  
  85.    INFOLIB.DOC    The documentation file.
  86.  
  87.    INSTLIB.BAT    The batch file for installation.
  88.  
  89.    INFOIDX.BAT    Batch file to assist with making index files
  90.                   if needed.  MAKEIDX.EXE utility is required.
  91.  
  92.    INFOVIF.EXE    Information volumes and index files.
  93.  
  94.    PBTINFO        Command file for PacketCluster SYSOP.DAT file.
  95.  
  96.    PCDBSYS        Command lines to be appended to PCDB SYSOP.DAT file.

  102. Distribution:

  104. The database files as described above are distributed in a compressed (ZIP)
  105. format.  The filename contains a version number or date.  These files are:
  106.  
  107.      CTESTxxx.ZIP    DEALRxxx.ZIP    INFOxxx.ZIP    IOTAxxx.ZIP
  108.      OPDXxxx.ZIP     RULESxxx.ZIP    TODAYxxx.ZIP

  110. They are distributed on DX-BBS at 916-992-0923 2400-14400 8/N/1; GODISK
  111. by W6GO, the monthly distribution of files and information to node SysOps;
  112. and PC-GO by W6GO, a disk version of the W6GO/K6HHD QSL Manager List.

  114. Please feel free to copy and distribute these database files.  They must
  115. be distributed in their original distributed ZIP format.  Distribution
  116. schemes where any charge is made, such as on any media which must be paid
  117. for, must be authorized by the Author.  This is in part to ensure that the
  118. most current release will be distributed and that a copy of the diskette(s),
  119. CD-ROM, etc. is given to the Author for distribution verification.

  124. Construction and distribution of these databases is done with the desire
  125. to make available a source of information for PacketCluster SysOps/Users,
  126. and are free to use.  Nevertheless, certain expenses are generated.  A
  127. registration/support fee, should you choose to send, will cover mostly the
  128. expenses of providing upgrades (and new databases) to DX-BBS for your use.

  131. your Cluster Companion software, the PacketCluster Database Reader (PCDB),
  132. or other view methods, a fee according to the schedule below (or an amount
